Sales and Return Policies
Please review these policies carefully as they are the
terms of sale that govern your purchases at the Brown
Bookstore
Technology Center.
They set out your rights and obligations with
respect to your purchases, including important
limitations and exclusions, such as those in
manufacturer product warranties. Your placement of an
order at the Brown Bookstore Technology Center - in
store or online, constitutes your agreement that these
policies apply to the order.
We are an authorized
Apple and Dell product store as well as certified
authorized service and repair center for both
manufacturers. We do however service and support all
computer brands including Lenovo/IBM, HP and Toshiba. A
knowledgeable technology center staff is always at hand,
to assist with your questions or needs. In fact the
Brown community of students, staff and faculty has come
to view the Brown Bookstore Technology Center as an
excellent resource for all their technology needs.
The Brown Bookstore Technology Center
wants you to be thrilled with your new purchase.
However, given the various manufacturers’ policies
imposed upon the Computer Store and in consideration of
all our customers, the following are the return and
refund terms and conditions for some of our products:
Except for the below special conditions,
technology items may be returned accompanied by a
register receipt within 15 days of purchase, for an
exchange or refund Refunds will be in the same form as
original purchase. Exception: A 10 day
period is required for a cash refund on check purchases.
Special Conditions
Opened or installed
software is not returnable.
Opened
peripherals will be assessed a 15% restocking fee.
Before purchasing, please consult us if unsure of
a particular device’s suitability to your application
purpose.
Final Sale: Computers, hard drives,
chargers, flash drives and all Apple items (including
iPods and iPads) are not returnable unless unopened or
tested defective within 15 days of purchase. If
tested defective by our service department, the item
will be exchanged for the same or equivalent item.
If item is out of stock, it will be replaced within 5 to
7 business days.
Computer purchases are
covered by manufacturer’s warranty. Your system maybe
returned only if unopened within 15 days. If opened and
diagnosed DOA (dead-on-arrival) by our service
department it will be replaced within 15 days of
purchase. DOA systems must be returned in original
packaging and with all original contents or a 15%
restocking fee will be assessed. User damage such
as accidental drops or liquid spillage does not qualify
as DOA and are also conditions not covered under Apple’s
hardware warranty. Other than DOA, your system will be
repaired under the terms and conditions of the
manufacturer’s warranty. Configured-to-order,
personalized or other customized products cannot be
returned under any circumstance, unless such product is
tested DOA.
